Privacy Policy

The short version: Blankout collects nothing. No analytics, no tracking, no accounts, no data leaves your device except a request for a public blocklist file.
What the extension does
Blankout is a Chrome extension that blocks access to websites commonly used
to reach unblocked games. It redirects blocked pages to a built-in notice,
hides game widgets on the Google homepage, and closes stray
about:blank tabs.
Data collection
Blankout does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal information. Specifically:
- No analytics or usage tracking of any kind
- No browsing history is recorded or sent anywhere
- No accounts, logins, or personally identifiable information
- No cookies are set by the extension
- No third-party services receive data from the extension
Network requests
The extension makes exactly one kind of network request:
-
It periodically downloads a public text file (a domain blocklist) hosted
on
raw.githubusercontent.com. This request contains no information about you or your browsing — it's a plain file download.
The downloaded list is cached locally using Chrome's built-in storage so the extension keeps working if the download fails.
Permissions
The extension declares the following Chrome permissions, all required for blocking to work:
tabs— to detect blocked URLs and redirect tabsstorage— to cache the blocklist locallydeclarativeNetRequest— to intercept requests to blocked sites<all_urls>host access — needed to inspect page URLs and inject the blocking content script
Host access is broad because blocked sites can appear on any domain. The extension only reads URLs to decide whether to block them — it does not read page content, passwords, or form data.
Children's privacy
Blankout is designed for use in school and home environments and is intended to be installed by a parent, teacher, or administrator. Because the extension collects no data, there is nothing to consent to.
